My intention is to give a brief presentation on how Banks and Vulture Funds are navigating their way through the Courts in Ireland in times where, after the collapse of 2008 and the stagnation period between 2008 and 2014, there followed a mass sell-off of Irish loans and securities by Irish and UK Banks and the State ‘bad bank’ / NAMA to unregulated ‘Vulture Funds’ or SPV. Servicing Agents are used to avoid direct regulation but, in truth, the funds make the decisions.

In April 2019, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, Leilani Farha chastised some member States including Ireland for promoting and allowing the ‘financialisation of housing’ saying: – 

“I have also learned about the paucity of social housing and the ways in which housing has been financialised – with foreign investment being encouraged through tax policy and foreign investors playing a dominant role in the housing market.”
